Entering the first expansion of FFXIV

 

So... I finally did it.

 I finally got my character out of 2.X and into Heavensward, the first FFXIV expansion.

The cutscenes ending A Realm Reborn's story are all so very tragic. I won't spoil it but you have to check it out. Suffice it to say, it involves losing all of your old friends save a couple and ending up fleeing to the capital city of Ishgard to hide from trouble.

And OH BY THE TWELVE, ISHGARD IS HUGE!!!

It's three times bigger than any of the three cities we were used to. It took me five minutes to get from aetheryte shard to aetheryte shard!

And of course, I picked up the only three jobs I had not picked up - I had leveled my Scholar and Summoner to 60 to pick up Gunbreaker(the fight in that unlock quest is the hardest I had, my character DIED to him!) and Dancer - and...

They start at Level 30. Yep, downgraded back to 30 and having to grind 60 levels is annoying.

It didn't help that the last few Astrologian job quests were riddled with lag. I ended up failing the solo duty for the Level 45 job quest because a giant robot was summoned and kicked the crap out of me and the escort, failing the mission. TGIF for Very Easy mode! Even then I nearly failed again until I found you can kill the leader and end the duty. The game kept softlocking and when it popped back into action, everyone on my side was dead. I probably need to replace my router as it's been around for five years and not getting any younger. :(

But all in all, the three jobs I had left were all pretty good. I ran out of space on my PS4 hotbars for all the skills. I am DEFINITELY going to shift to PC once I get the platinum trophy for this game... in four months. *sigh* Damn you, "Adventurer's Life" trophy! *angry*

Haven't actually started advancing the MSQ yet. Just met with Count Edmont and became wards of House Fortemps, took a tour of the city, and Tataru is now rumormongering in the Forgotten Knight.
